One scarf, 3 ways

The Tyra Banks Show featured a fashion related topic last week called Recessionista Fashion Tips. That was the first time I hear the term recessionista. According to Wiktionary.org, that word is used in Us Weekly and Women's Wear Daily in August 2008. A recessionista is someone who manage to dress like a fashionista in a tight budget. I was impressed by one particular segment where Tyra's guest Jill Martin of Us Weekly showed the audience how to use an ordinary square scarf in three different ways.

The first tip is to use it as a halter top. The look is gorgeous on the model, however you'd have to go bare back, which is a tad risqué. If I can perfect the technique I think I would layer the scarf/halter over a matching color tube top. The second tip garner ohh and ahhs from the crowd: turning the scarf into a hobo shoulder bag. I'm not sure if a piece of fabric can withstand the wear and tear, but I'm sure it'd work in a pinch when you feel like you need a new look. Plus I've got a couple of inexpensive polyester scarf sitting around, it would be great knowing I can put them to good use. The last tip suggests using the scarf as a belt, which is a very doable and creative way to add color to an outift.

I'm very much a scarf person, but I usually prefer the oblong ones over the squares for ease of use. Now having learnt new ways to use square scarves I'll definitely get some mileaged from the ones sitting around in my closet.
